Tattoo Pain Scale is free to use and always will be. Running it costs money, so the plan is to cover that with two things: display advertising, and affiliate links to products we think are worth buying.

Where things stand today

We are in the process of establishing affiliate relationships. If you see a product link on this site, it will be marked — “Sponsored”, “Affiliate” or “(paid link)” — and it will carry a rel="sponsored" attribute so search engines can see it for what it is. If a link is not marked, we are not being paid for it.

When an affiliate link is live and you buy something through it, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What a commission does not buy

Product placement is not for sale here. Nothing in the chart, a pain score, or a guide changes because of an affiliate relationship — the scores are what they are regardless of who does or does not pay us. If a product is recommended, it is because we think it is the right tool for the job.
